Degrees of Comparison (Tingkat perbandingan)

Degrees of comparison adalah tiga tingkat perbandingan kata sifat: positive (biasa: tall), comparative (lebih: taller), dan superlative (paling: the tallest). Aturannya bergantung pada panjang kata sifatnya — dan ada segelintir kata yang bentuknya tidak beraturan.

Aturan pembentukan

Berakhir -e	+ -r	the + -st	large → larger → the largest
Konsonan-vokal-konsonan	gandakan konsonan + -er	gandakan + -est	big → bigger → the biggest
Berakhir -y	-y → -ier	-y → -iest	happy → happier → the happiest
2+ suku kata	more + adjective	the most + adjective	beautiful → more beautiful → the most beautiful

Bentuk tidak beraturan & pola kalimat

Wajib hafal: good → better → the best; bad → worse → the worst; far → farther/further → the farthest/furthest; little → less → the least; many/much → more → the most.

• Perbandingan setara: as + adjective + as — She is as tall as her brother.
• Comparative selalu berpasangan dengan than — taller than me.
• Superlative selalu memakai the — the tallest in the class.
